Ravensburger Dixit
- Unleash creativity with dreamlike picture cards.
- Engaging for 2-6 players, ages 12 and up.
- Simple rules, deep strategic card interpretation.
Description
This is a card game where you try to guess which of your cards a storyteller is thinking of, based on a clue. The trick is, the clue can be anything – a word, a phrase, a song lyric. The storyteller wants *some* people to guess their card, but not everyone. If everyone guesses it, or if no one guesses it, the storyteller gets zero points. It’s a balancing act.
It's for 2 to 6 players, and you need to be at least 12 years old to play. The whole thing is made of cardboard, which is pretty standard for board games.

How it Works
You get a hand of surreal, dreamlike picture cards. Each turn, one player is the storyteller. They pick a card from their hand, look at it, and give a clue related to that card. It could be a single word, a sentence, or even a sound. Then, everyone else picks a card from their hand that they think best matches the clue and gives it to the storyteller, face down. The storyteller shuffles all the cards (their own and the ones from other players) and lays them out. Everyone votes on which card they think was the storyteller's original card. Points are awarded based on who voted correctly and who managed to fool others.
The art style is pretty unique. It's not your typical cartoonish game art. These images are a bit abstract and open to interpretation, which is kind of the point. You'll see strange creatures, odd landscapes, and peculiar scenes. It’s what makes giving and guessing clues interesting.
Usage Notes
Keep the cards out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, just like any printed material.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of clues work best?
Clues that are too obvious will get the storyteller zero points. Clues that are too obscure will also get them zero points. You're aiming for something that makes sense to you, but might also make sense to at least one other person, but not everyone.
Is it hard to learn?
The basic rules are pretty simple. You pick a card, give a clue, people vote. The strategy comes in with how you give your clues and how you interpret others'.
Can you play with fewer than 6 people?
Yes, the game is designed for 2 to 6 players. It plays differently with different numbers, but it works.
What if I don't like the art?
The art is a big part of the game. If you don't connect with it, you might not enjoy Dixit as much. It’s very subjective.
