IdeaPad Slim 5 14"

This thing weighs 2.4kg. It’s not exactly feather-light, but it’s not a brick either. The black finish looks like it’ll hide fingerprints, which is something.

What It Is

This is a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 14" laptop. It’s got some serious power under the hood, but the screen refresh rate is a bit of a letdown for what else is packed in here.

Features That Matter

• Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Processor & NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU: This combo means it can handle demanding tasks. Think heavy multitasking, video editing, or even some serious gaming if you can live with the screen limitations.
• 64GB DDR5 RAM & 4TB SSD: You’re not going to run out of memory or storage anytime soon. Load times should be quick, and you can keep a ton of files on here.
• 18" IPS Display: The screen is a decent size for working or watching stuff. IPS panels generally offer good color and viewing angles.
• Thunderbolt 4 Ports: These are fast. You can connect high-speed external drives, multiple displays, or docking stations with a single cable.

Usage Notes

Keep it on a flat surface when it’s running. The 60Hz refresh rate on the display means fast-moving action in games or videos might not look as smooth as on a higher refresh rate screen. Make sure you have enough space for the 2.4kg weight if you plan on moving it around a lot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of work is this laptop good for?

With the processor, GPU, and RAM, it’s built for demanding tasks like video editing, graphic design, software development, and heavy multitasking. It’s overkill for just browsing the web.

Is the 18" screen a typo?

The catalog lists it as 18 inches. It's a larger screen than most 14-inch laptops, so expect a bigger footprint.

Can I connect external monitors?

Yes, the Thunderbolt 4 ports are capable of driving external displays.

What does the trade-in bonus mean?

Workstation Depot is offering a free laptop bag if you trade in an old device. Details would be with the vendor.
