ThinkPad X13 G5

This ThinkPad X13 G5 weighs 2.1kg. It’s got a 16-inch OLED screen, which means your blacks will be properly black, not just dark grey. The refresh rate is 60Hz, so don't expect super-smooth scrolling if you're coming from a high-refresh gaming laptop. This machine is built for work, not for chasing frame rates.

What's Inside

Under the hood, it's packing an Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX processor and an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU. That’s a lot of power for a laptop this size. You get 36GB of Unified RAM, which should handle most demanding tasks without a hitch. Storage is a 512GB SSD. It's fast, but if you work with massive video files or huge datasets, you might fill it up quicker than you think.

Ports and Connections

You've got a decent selection here. There's an HDMI 2.1 port for external displays, an Ethernet port for a wired connection, and Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed data transfer and docking. A built-in SD card reader is handy for photographers. And yes, it has MagSafe for charging, which is a nice magnetic connection that snaps into place.

Who is this for?

If you need a powerful laptop for demanding tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, or complex simulations, and you value a good screen and a solid build, this could be it. The ThinkPad line is known for its durability and keyboard feel, and this G5 model packs some serious hardware.

Usage Notes

The 60Hz refresh rate on the OLED display means it's not good for fast-paced gaming where every millisecond counts. However, for productivity and content creation, the color accuracy and deep blacks of OLED are excellent. Keep an eye on that 512GB SSD; heavy users might need external storage.
